HBHS—Heroic Brothers, Heroic Sisters—a non profit organization of Georgia exists to honor the men and women who risked their lives to educate African Americans when learning was forbidden. Long before classrooms were safe spaces, there were hidden rooms, whispered lessons, and courageous educators who believed knowledge was worth the risk.​ Their means were limited. Their courage was not.

HBHS stands as a tribute to those pioneers and as a living movement dedicated to preserving their legacy, uplifting communities, and inspiring future generations through education.

HBHS was created to honor the untold story of those who risked everything so that education could exist for future generations. Before classrooms were safe, before books were freely accessible, there were courageous educators who taught in secret—often at great personal risk—because they believed knowledge was worth fighting for.
As the founder of HBHS, my mission is to preserve and uplift that legacy. This movement was born from a deep respect for those who laid the foundation for Black education and a commitment to ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten. HBHS exists to connect the past to the present by honoring resilience, courage, and the transformative power of learning.
Through education, storytelling, and community engagement, HBHS stands as a living tribute to the educators who came before us—and a call to action for those shaping the future.
